In the fall of 1987, a group of twenty two women found themselves in search of an organization that would be a foundation for their flourishing collegiate careers. One that would not only uplift it's members academically and socially, but provide oppurtunities to give back to the community as well. The Beta Alpha chapter of Theta Phi Alpha was thus installed on the Stony Brook campus.

Almost 30 years after it's founding, the Beta Alpha chapter has continued to maintain a prominent presence on our campus. With almost 500 initiated sisters, 47 of whom are active today, our chapter continues to expand and flourish! Thoughout the years our chapter has changed tremendously, however our sisters have always stayed true to our values, and the mission of Theta Phi Alpha.

Theta Phi Alpha is one of the three national sororities recognized on Stony Brook's campus, and our sisters make a point to maintain good relations with other Greek organizations. We participate in campus events such as Greek Week and Homecoming celebrations, and put on events and informationals that are open to the entire campus community. Our sisters are always pushing each other to strive for success, particularly in terms of academics. We are proud to hold the Highest GPA of the three National Panhellenic sororities on campus, and continue to work hard to maintain this accomplishment!

Above all, the Beta Alpha chapter prides itself on the strong bonds and lifelong friendships that we have formed with one another. As diverse as we may be, our sisterhood is more than just the letters we wear. Whether it's someone to grab lunch with, someone to hang out with you on staller, or even someone stay up all night with you while you cram for that test the next morning, you'll always have a sister to turn to. We've found some of the best friends of our lifetimes in each other, and we have each grown to become the best versions of our selves. So many of our fondest memories have been made together as a family, because Theta Phi Alpha has become our home away from home.
